Make-A-Wish Kicks Off The Second “Hong Kong Wish Month”
The Public Is Invited To Be “WISH HERO”
．Make-A-Wish Hong Kong introduces the second “Hong Kong Wish Month” in April, uniting people across Hong Kong to create a network of strength and joy
．Through a month-long digital campaign #smileforwishes, Make-A-Wish Hong Kong invites the public to spread joy to children with life-threatening medical conditions and realize their wishes, so as to bring out the key message that “everyone can be a Wish Hero”
Make-A-Wish Hong Kong proudly launched the second Wish Month in April through a month-long digital campaign #smileforwishes. Together with five corporate partners, Make-A-Wish Hong Kong invites the public to be the Wish Hero of children with life-threatening medical conditions, sharing hope, strength and joy and realizing wishes by simply uploading a photo of smiley face to social media.
Since 1998, Make-A-Wish Hong Kong has granted over 1,700 wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions aged between 3 and 17. “We are excited to celebrate the second Wish Month in Hong Kong.” said Ms Susanna Lee, Executive Manager of Make-A-Wish Hong Kong, “We are grateful to our corporate partners who have committed to turn children’s wishes into memorable reality, which improves the quality of life for them and their entire family.”
Five Wish Stories are shared and celebrated throughout the Wish Month in April through a series of wish-granting and fundraising events. This month, Make-a-Wish Hong Kong encourages the public to join forces with corporate partners including Bread n Butter, Hong Kong Disneyland, The Peninsula Hong Kong, Ruby Tuesday and SanteCare, by uploading a photo of smiley face on Facebook or Instagram with hashtag #smileforwishes @makeawishhk. Once 500 posts are collected for a wish, it will be realized by corporate partners:
．Ethan’s (13, Adrenoleukodystrophy) wish, to spread happiness by creating his own comic book, will be sponsored by Bread n Butter;
．Ching-ho’s (4, Clear Cell Sarcoma of Kidney) wish, to tour around Hong Kong by different means of transportation, will be sponsored by Hong Kong Disneyland;
．Nathaniel’s (8, Neuroblastoma) wish, to watch a Premier League soccer match in England, will be sponsored by The Peninsula Hong Kong;
．Ka-mei’s (17, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) wish, to learn pastry making at Le Cordon Bleu, will be sponsored by Ruby Tuesday; and
．Jia-yi’s (9, Refractory Epilepsy) wish, to have a wheelchair, will be sponsored by SanteCare.
Make-A-Wish Hong Kong will also be the proud beneficiary of the following activities:SanteCare’s charity sale of the special edition “skeeter defense outdoor device” from 28 Marc;
Bread n Butter’s charity sale of the “chocolate charity pack” from 28 March to 28 April; and
ECCO’s online fundraising campaign from 20 April to 27 April.
29 April is the official World Wish Day, when there will be a global celebration of wish granting in nearly 50 countries across the world. Generously sponsored by Hong Kong Disneyland, 20 Wish Families will have the opportunity to celebrate World Wish Day at the magical theme park.
The Hong Kong Wish Month will conclude with a grand celebration ceremony on 12 May at Hysan Place.
