I wish to hold a solo art exhibition

Yat Long, 13, EBV-associated NK-cell Lymphoproliferative Disease

In 2023, Yat Long was diagnosed with a life-threatening rare disease, EBV NK LPD. During the endless days spent in hospital beds and through consecutive rounds of chemotherapy, his sketchbook became his sanctuary. To protect his fragile immune system during recovery, he transitioned from colored pencils to black markers—a shift that gave birth to the unique visual language of his early works.

In 2025, referred by medical professionals, Yat Long applied for the services of Make-A-Wish Hong Kong. This newfound hope became a turning point in his battle against illness, granting him the strength to reach beyond the hospital walls. Today, that wish has come true, leading to the birth of this exhibition, “Seeds of Wishes.” This exhibition not only showcases a young boy’s immense passion for art but also bears witness to how he constructed a haven through infinite imagination during his most difficult years.

“Seeds of Wishes,” a solo exhibition by 13-year-old wish child Yat Long, will be held at JPS Gallery. Through a child’s pure perspective, the audience is invited to glimpse a world of innocent imagination and journey through a vast, boundless artistic universe. Yat Long’s dream was to bring his hand-drawn works to a grander stage. Under the joint curation of Make-A-Wish Hong Kong, this young artist’s seeds of wishes have finally sprouted, welcoming a brilliant season of bloom.
