Hospital Services

Make-A-Wish Hong Kong’s first hospital service project was launched in Hong Kong Children’s Hospital (HKCH) in 2019. We hope to inspire children the courage to face illness and adversity through the Greenhouse in the hospital and the healing power of plants and nature. With the support of HKCH’s Patient Resource Centre and Occupational Therapy, we organize programs that incorporate horticulture elements to enrich the therapeutic journey of child patients of HKCH. By paying regular ward visits and creating life-changing wish journeys, we rekindle hope, strength and joy in child patients and their families. Our hospital service beneficiaries include child patients, their family members, and healthcare professionals.

See you in Hong Kong Children’s Hospital!

Ward Visits and Wish Granting

Regular Ward Visits / Online Visits: Let’s Make A Wish!
Every week, our Wish Team and the beloved Wish Friends reach out to child patients in the wards and their families via different means to bring them fun-filled activities and care. By sharing Wish stories and the power of a Wish, we also encourage every eligible child to apply for a Wish.

Life-changing Wishes
Upon successful wish application, our Wish Team will create a unique Wish Journey and walk together with the Wish Child and Family from catching, design, to realization of the Wish. We believe that a Wish Journey brings hope and a transformative impact not just to the child concerned, but also to the Wish Family.

Wish Stories

Wish Planet Workshops

Co-organized by Make-A-Wish Hong Kong and HKCH’s Patient Resource Centre and Occupational Therapy, the workshops are designed to incorporate horticulture with interactive music and play to enrich the therapeutic journey of child patients of HKCH. We hope to inspire children the courage to face illness and adversity through the Greenhouse and the healing power of plants and nature.

Two Workshop Themes:
“Music of Nature” and “The Jungle Crafts”

Children will take part in art & craft activities, storytelling, music and interactive play that incorporate elements of horticulture and nature. The workshops help to inspire children’s creativity, reduce anxiety about doctor’s consultation, and improve their muscle coordination and social confidence.

Workshops for Caregivers

We organize workshops for caregivers at the Hong Kong Children’s Hospital for them to experience and appreciate the benefits brought to child patients through workshops incorporating horticulture with interactive music and play. Participants also learn skills in engaging and interacting with child patients.

Where Plants Grow, So Does Hope

When a plant grows, it creates strength, hope and transformation.

We believe plants and horticulture activities could help to improve mental and physical health of sick children and their families. A greenhouse, located in Central Rehabilitation Garden of Hong Kong Children’s Hospital, is filled with plants that we select and manage with love so as to provide different sensory experiences for everyone. We hope to provide a peaceful environment where everyone could put down the stress of critical illness and simply feel the healing power of plants growing.

This is not just an ordinary greenhouse, but a starting point where life empowering life begins.
