A Birthday Party and Lifetime Friendship
“I wish to have a big party”
— Yoke, currently working as a personal assistant
In 2001, 16-year-old Yoke was in hospital, bravely fighting against the illness. She has never thought of giving up especially she witnessed other young patients in her ward, trying their best to win the battle to critical illnesses, all younger than her. During the hard time, she felt grateful to those who didn’t give up on her and walked along with her.
“I want to turn my Wish into the best memory with my loved ones whom I want to thank to.” Instead of having a present, Yoke chose to hold a memorable party at the biggest karaoke room in Hong Kong. She remembered on her Wish Day, the guests, all invited by herself, were very touched when she spoke out her mind. What gave her a little surprise was that everyone presented her a gift, that she never expected that “a wish turning into a mountain of gifts!”
“I cherished this life experience. Many of them has become my best friends in my life.” Yoke said. She shared her thought to Wish Children who has undergone the same situation, “I am totally with you. Time will eventually passes, so does the hard time and your life will be totally different.”
