For Ernest, Hong Kong Disneyland (HKDL) has long been a source of strength. Throughout his grueling treatment, the hope of visiting the park provided him with much-needed comfort and the courage to stay positive. The “Disney magic” was more than just fun; it was a vital motivation that helped him through his most difficult days.
From Patient to Photographer
As Ernest regained his health, a new passion emerged: photography. He wished to celebrate this new chapter of life by capturing the magic that once sustained him through his own lens.
To make this wish a reality, Make-A-Wish Hong Kong gifted Ernest a professional-grade camera, while our long-term partner Hong Kong Disneyland curated a unique mentorship experience. Under the guidance of a professional photographer, Ernest explored the park, honing his skills and capturing precious moments with his favorite Disney friends.
Showcasing a New Perspective
We were proud to showcase Ernest’s photography—themed around HKDL’s 20th anniversary—at our recent “Wishes Party” exhibition. His images are more than just photos; they are a testament to his rediscovered joy, confidence, and the infinite possibilities that lie ahead.
In His Own Words “When I was first diagnosed, I was frightened and unable to see any hope. But the thought of seeing Mickey Mouse again gave me the strength to keep going. Every visit to the park made the pain fade away. I knew that by focusing on my recovery, I would eventually leave the hospital and return to this magical place.”

Ernest’s story is a beautiful example of how a wish provides the emotional strength a child needs to fight a critical illness. We are honored to have played a part in his recovery journey and remain committed to granting life-changing wishes for every eligible child.
