Pak Yu, 15, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

“I can control the wheelchair myself, just like driving a car!” 

Pak Yu, who suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, has experienced a gradual decline in his physical abilities. Pushing his wheelchair with his hands has become increasingly difficult, making outings a challenge. Thanks to the support of Henderson Land, Pak Yu’s wish has come true—he now has a new wheelchair!

The new wheelchair is lighter and easier to push, allowing Pak Yu to regain his autonomy and venture out freely. The Wish Team also arranged a special trip for Pak Yu, who loves long bus rides, taking him from Hong Kong Island to Tuen Mun for a buffet celebration with his family! During the journey, we surprised him with a small bus gift every five stops, letting him unwrap presents while enjoying the scenic views along the way.

With his newfound independence, Pak Yu was thrilled even to stroll through a supermarket. His mother expressed her joy, saying, “I’m so happy to see Pak Yu moving around freely in his new wheelchair!” It’s our pleasure to know how significantly this new wheelchair enhances Pak Yu’s quality of life!
