I wish to go to Japan

Chun Yat, 10, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia

Continuing the Journey After Overcoming Leukaemia

As a railway enthusiast, Chun Yat has always hoped to travel to Osaka, and visit the Kyoto Railway Museum. Unfortunately, at the age of 9, he was diagnosed with leukaemia. This stopped him from going on the trip, as he was immediately hospitalized for treatment. During his treatment, Chun Yat wished to embark on his journey to Japan after his recovery. This Wish became his motivation to fight against the illness. Last month, during the Christmas holidays, Chun Yat’s Wish finally came true!

Thank you DFS for making Chun Yat’s long-awaited trip to Japan a reality. The DFS team went to a model train store with him before his departure to pick out gifts to celebrate his victory over leukaemia! A volunteer from DFS shares, “We are very grateful for the opportunity to accompany Chun Yat on his Wish Journey. Seeing him regain his passion for life and hope through the realization of his Wish has deeply moved us!”

In addition to visiting the railway museum, Chun Yat enjoyed a wonderful time with his family at Universal Studios Japan, having a fun and amazing holiday! We hope that Chun Yat continues to utilize the hope and courage he gained from his Wish Journey to embrace every adventure that life has to offer.

Chun Yat’s mother shares:

“The dedication of the Wish Team and volunteer has deeply moved us. Even though Chun Yat was suffering from leukaemia, meeting these kind people feels like encountering angels in the darkness. It makes us feel the warmth of the world and gives us the resilience to continue fighting against illness. I hope that Chun Yat will have the opportunity to grow and, like them, give back to society. We are immensely grateful for the dedication of each and every one of you!”
