Yee Sun, 7, Lymphoma

The magical power of wishes brought me into my favorite musical!

Yee Sun was diagnosed with biliary atresia at just two months old and a rare lymphoma at four years old. She underwent four organ and bone marrow transplants, along with a series of chemotherapy treatments, ultimately triumphing over the illness, showing extraordinary courage and perseverance.

During her treatment, Yee Sun, a Disney fan, missed the joyful times spent at Hong Kong Disneyland and hoped to once again enjoy her favorite show, “Mickey and the Wondrous Book”. She looked forward to joyfully raising her hand at the end of the performance to respond to Mickey Mouse’s question: “Who will open the book next? Who has the heart of a storybook hero? Could it be you?” She dreamed of being the lucky one invited on stage by Mickey.

With the help of the wish team and Disney, Yee Sun’s wish finally came true! For this day, she dedicated herself to practicing choreography and script for an entire month. On the day of the performance, she wore a specially designed costume created by the resort’s Costuming team, and treated to a magical makeover and hairstyling in Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, immersing into the show through her experience as a stage performer. She made her debut on the stage of “Mickey and the Wondrous Book” in front of nearly a thousand guests, fulfilling her dream of being part of the show!

“I am very grateful for the support and love from the Make-A-Wish and various teams at Hong Kong Disneyland that made Yee Sun’s wish come true. Having hope for the future and having wishes is what makes life meaningful,” said Yee Sun’s mother.

“Ta-da! Surprise” Queen Elsa, Yee Sun’s favorite Disney friend, showed up after the performance to send her warm words and praise, making her wish day even more special!

As a celebration of World Wish Day, many Wish Children were also invited to witness Yee Sun’s special moment. Her inspiring story reminded every Wish Child that each of them is a hero in their own life story, with limitless possibilities!
