A Printer and A Listener

“I wish to have a printer”

— Winnie, Wish Alumni and Volunteer

In 1999, Winnie was once asked by her doctor if she had any wishes, after finishing the hardly-imaginable medical treatment of brain cancer with 3 surgeries, 8 chemotherapies and 24 electrotherapies.

Winnie was back to school afterward. She worked so hard to catch up the missing pieces in her study and that was how she came up with her wish: to have a printer that helped her print out school works and notes. Since then, Winnie decided to volunteer with her mother, helping other children with similar experience.

“It (the printer) sounds simple but that was my biggest wish. When there is someone who is willing to listen to a child, help and realize his/her wish, it is indeed the greatest thing ever.” Winnie decided to be the listener of other children in the hospital and cheered them up with her own story.

If you meet a girl on any Make-A-Wish’s events who is busy with twisting balloon for children or help organizing the activities, yes, that’s Winnie, our Wish Alumni who has walked along with us for over 10 years.
